T HE F AST - DAYS :

T HE following days are appointed to be kept as Days of strict Fasting: A SH W EDNESDAY and G OOD F RIDAY .

T HE D AYS OF A BSTINENCE :

T HE following days are appointed to be observed as Days of Abstinence: The Forty Days of L ENT ; the three E MBER - DAYS at the Four Seasons, being the W EDNESDAY , F RIDAY , and S ATURDAY , after: The Third S UNDAY in A DVENT , The First S UNDAY in L ENT , The Feast of P ENTECOST , and H OLY C ROSS D AY ; the three R OGATION -D AYS , being the M ONDAY , T UESDAY , and W EDNESDAY , before the F EAST OF THE A SCENSION OF O UR L ORD which is called H OLY T HURSDAY ; and all the F RIDAYS of the Year, except C HRISTMAS -D AY and the Friday after C HRISTMAS -D AY , The Feast of the E PIPHANY , The Friday after E ASTER -D AY , and The Friday after H OLY T HURSDAY .
